This month, I'm sewing!

Rag quilts. I love them, I used to make them all the time and I stopped to embark upon Loopers! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE loopers! and all things crochet and knit and weave. Sometimes you just have to swing back and revisit your first love. I couldn't find a good location to hold the Loopers! class this semester, I'm still working on it.

Luckily, while I was pondering my craft future, a friend went and had a baby! YAY! Once you join the over 40 crowd, oh, ok and over 45 crowd, not alot of friends are popping babies. On the one hand it frees me and my friends up to cocktail far more frequently, on the down side, some of my favorite things to make are for babies.

Enter baby Katie last Wednesday, yay for me, I happen to have adorable flannel and a working sewing machine. I even rethreaded my serger which is NO SMALL FEAT!

Here's what happens to a little bit of flannel and some thread when I have spare time.

and then you wash it...and dry it...repeat and this is what you get:

the squares are 6" and 3/4 inch seam allowance all the way. There is no batting, it's Texas and it'd have been way too heavy.

Apparently mother and baby loved it. Oh and yes, there's 17 more yards of various flannel in my sewing room...stand warned!

/make it!
